Don Bosco English Medium Higher Primary School was founded in the year 1983 by the then Parish Priest Late Very Rev. Fr Aloysius Rosario. Don Bosco English Medium High School was founded in the year 1988 by the then Parish Priest Very Rev Fr Sylvester D’Souza. With recent development in order to have CBSE Curriculum School this School has come under one shelter Don Bosco English Medium School Shirva. The school runs under the patronage of Our Lady of Health Church Shirva. It is a religious minority Institution managed by the Catholic Education Society of Udupi Diocese.

The motto of our school is “growing in truth and purity”. The aim of the institution is to impart sound moral, intellectual and physical education to the students, curricular, co-curricular activities are provided to the students in order to promote, integral development of the students and their personalities. It is co-education institution where both boys and girls grow up together in a healthy atmosphere of equality and mutual respect.

During the Last one hundred years , Don Bosco was the only Higher Primary School in Shirva and the surrounding villages of Kuthyar, Kalathur, Padur, Herur, Innanje, Padubelle, Kattingeri, Palli, Sooda and Pilar. This School has catered to the needs of thousands of students of all castes and creeds. By imparting good education the school has played a major role in the all-round development of this large locality. The school was prestigious and ordinary students found it difficult to get admission and teachers to get a job here.
