“Creativity is making marvelous things out of discarded” The straws which we use to sip or drink could be recycled and reused in lots of interesting and creative art and craft projects. Straw crafts are very colourful and create a cheerful mood among children. The straws once used for drinking cannot be used again instead they could be shaped into some unique craft work. “The objective of art is to give shape for everything we do” The toddlers of kindergarten witnessed a unique activity of making collage using different shapes. In this activity the focus was on geometrical shapes. The students were given pre-cut paper triangles, circles, squares, rectangles, ovals and semi-circles. Before they started the activity, the teacher spoke about different geometrical shapes, and the basic techniques of how to make a large collage combining smaller shapes. This project enabled them to learn the shapes and provided them the opportunity to create their own individual designs using simple shapes.
Children are creative and it’s our responsibility to nurture their novel ways of thinking by encouraging them to harness their creativity and independent thinking.
