Igniting the young minds on space

A journey to inspire, innovate and discover with space was conducted with an inspiring talk by a scientist from ISRO, Professor D.S. Anthuan along with Mr.Mark D Souza on the 2nd November. The Principal Rev. Fr. Mahesh D Souza welcomed them. Mr.Anthuan said that the most precious and valuable wealth he has got was having Dr. A PJ Abdul Kalam, as his first boss at ISRO, he paid his tribute to Dr Kalam. He showed pictures on the Solar System and said the Pioneers were Galileo and Newton. His sub topics were rockets, aircrafts and satellites. Rockets work on the 3rd law of Newton. SPUTNIK-1 was the first satellite. SLV-3, in 1980 was projected by Dr Abdul Kalam. In 1975, the first satellite of India ARYABHATA was launched. It helps in communication, weather forecast, global position, navigation etc. Around 25,000 satellites are there in the space. The life span of a satellite is 12 years. India was the first to say Hello to Mars through the ‘Mangalyan’ on 24th September 2014. Difference between Mars and earth was explained. He concluded by saying ‘space’ is a part of our life, future and it is fascinating. He thanked the Principal for the opportunity given to interact with the students. Mr. Mark D Souza introduced Mr. Anthuan and his family. He also felt himself proud as two of his kids had studied in our school. Miss.Jane Mendonca thanked the Guest speaker, and the gathering.
