Independence Day Celebration

“I too have a dream. I dream of India, strong, independent, self-reliant and in the front rank of the nations of the world.”

To achieve this dream and to cultivate the value of patriotism Independence Day was celebrated on 15 th August on the vast ground of the institution. The spectacular march of the school Band group led by Ayman Assadi was a feast to the eyes. The band escorted the President of the Day Very Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, Chief Guest Mr. Kishore Alva, Joint Director Adani Foundation – Udupi District, Principal Rev. Fr. Mahesh D Souza, Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Canute Noronha, Parish Pastoral Council Vice-President Mr. Wilson D Souza, Secretary Mrs. Leena Machado, Commissions In charge Mr. Melwyn Aranha, Members of the Managing Committee Mrs. Irine Rodrigues, Mr. Julian Rodrigues, Mrs. Diana Saldanha, Mr. Melwyn D Souza Mrs. Pauline Lobo, Headmistress Kannada Medium School, Members of the Lions and Rotary Clubs, Guests Priests Rev. Fr. Alphonso D’ Lima, Fr. Robert Mathias and Fr. Ronald Machado.

The Programme began by invoking almighty’s blessing through a Prayer Song was sung by the students. Pranav Raj welcomed the gathering and the dignitaries. The Chief Guest was introduced by the Principal. Ms. Ameena SPL of High School escorted the Chief Guest and the dignitaries to the flag post. Mr.Kishore Alva unfurled the national flag. The music and the national anthem covered the atmosphere with a patriotic feeling.

The Chief Guest was honoured by the Correspondent and the dignitaries on the stage. In his message the Chief Guest paid rich tribute to the freedom fighters who freed India from the clutches of the British. Today India is marching towards a technological developing nation. Government has taken a bold step towards advance technology. We have a dream of Digital India. It’s in, our hands how to use technology.

He advised the students not to waste time on video games and animated films, instead go through educational sites, there are many online website where one, can avail to competitions and multiple information. Teacher’s resources should be updated. Parents responsibility to see to the cyber safe use of their child. Plant more trees make the surrounding green. Take an oath
Clean and Green, India an enormous power nation.

The hallmark, of Boscorian discipline and the perfect blending of the mass drill with the rhythm of the band was a wonderful sight. The President of the day Very Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro emphasized on the beautiful slogans- Mera Bharat Mahan, Swachch Bharat, I Love My India. He also brought to mind the sacrifice of the freedom leaders. To make our nation a progressive one depends on each one of us.

Sansa of Kannada Medium School spoke on Importance of Independence Day. Cleona Quadras proposed the Vote of Thanks. The programme was anchored by Swasthi Shetty and Collin D Souza.
To understand a nation, one has to look at its dances and listen to its meaningful patriotic songs. A cultural programme of dances to ignite the passion of patriotism was performed. To add
flavour to the day sweets were distributed to the students.
