Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated at Don Bosco English Medium school , Shirva with great vigour enthusiasm. The Chief Guest of the day,Mrs.SandhyaShenoy, was welcomed traditionally along with Principal Ms. Myrtle. L. F. Lewis, Vice Principal Mrs. IrineCardoza and the Co-ordinator of Senior Secondary Section Rev. Fr. RolwynAranha.The programme began with a prayer song by the students. The Chief guest inaugurated the programme by unfurling the flower of arecatree, which is also a local culture. Students melodiously sang Nada githe andNithyosava song of Poet NisarAhamed . The significance of the day was highlighted by JothsnaMenezes of grade 9. The Chief Guest called upon the students to love and respect their mother tongue, learn it to its perfectionand not to forget their mother language in their life.

The students spread the fragrance of kannada language with their spectacular dance performance which left the audience spellbound like Punyakoti,Kamsale,Kangilu and tiger dance(Hulivesha) . The event generated a sense of pride in the minds of the students for being a part of a culture that is so rich and vibrant. StonalDAlmeida welcomed the gathering;Hrishikeshproposed the vote of thanks and SherlineJiya compeered the programme beautifully.
