“Freedom in mind, Faith in our heart, Memories in our souls. Let’s salute the nation on Republic Day”.

The 73rd Republic Day was celebrated at Don Bosco English Medium School, Shirva with immense patriotic fervor and zeal. The chief guest Mr Ren Dias, Professor of Commerce, MAHE, the Principal Myrtle L F Lewis, Vice Principal, Coordinators of various sections were escorted by the school band. The programme began by invoking God’s blessings. Kshama of Grade 11th welcomed the gathering. The chief guest unfurled the Tri colour Flag followed by National Anthem and Patriotic Songs.

Rowin of grade 11th spoke on importance of Republic Day. Mass drill and aerobic exercises were displayed to showcase the skills that school is honing in its students. The chief guest Mr Ren Dias the alumnus of our school highlighted the significance of the day, awakened the students that the future of the country lies in the hands of youth.India is in the safe hands, as the majority of population is youth. He motivated the students by giving 3 tips to follow i.e., hard work, respect the elders and to be consistent. He acknowledged his Alma Mater with a sense of gratitude.

The Principal Ms Myrtle L F Lewis in her presidential address called upon the students to update the knowledge about the nation, its Constitution and freedom fighters. She also gave a call to the students to raise their voice against social evils and to be environmental conscious. She concluded by saying,“let us not ask what the country can do for you, but what you can do for the country”. The chief guest honouredMsKyra Dsouza for getting selected for Inspire Award andMsJosna Menezes for securing a consolation prize in state level drawing competition. The chief guest was honored with a memento.

The programe was compered by Winston Fernandes of grade X, MrsZarinaLasrado introduced the chief guest and Faiza of grade of X proposed the vote of thanks.
