75th Independence Day

“Freedom is never dear at any price, it is the breath of life.”
On the occasion of our Nation India completing its 75 years of freedom on August 15, 2022 and celebrating its 76th day of Independence. Don Bosco English Medium School, Shirva put up an impressive celebration of the historical day.
The honourable guests of the day were Very Rev. Dr Leslie Dsouza, Correspondent of St Mary’s and Don Bosco Institutions and NaibSubedarSubramanyaUpadhya, Retired Indian Army Personnel.
The program began at 8:30 am. The honourable Guest NaibSubedarSubramanyaUpadhya along with the school Correspondent Rev. Dr Leslie Dsouza, school Principal, Rev. FrRolwyn Joy Aranha, unfurled the National flag.
The Chief Guest delivered a motivational and patriotic speech in which he called upon the students to remember the sacrifices of the Freedom fighters, uphold patriotism and also shared his experiences of being a Army Man. He encouraged the students to serve the country with spirit of honesty and truthfulness.
In his Presidential address Rev. Dr Leslie Dsouza, gave a clarion call to the gathering for a nationalistic spirit and urging them to take pride in being an Indian and fulfilling one’s duty with responsibility. He also emphasized on the patriotic slogans like “InquilabZindabad”, “Give me blood, I will give you freedom”, “Do or Die” with reference to the present context. He highlighted the colours of the flag and asked the students to be courageous, strong, pure and truthful and to keep the nation moving towards prosperity. He called on the students to be “HarAadmiTiranga”. He asked the students to represent the colours of the tricolour.
Several cultural events were organized by the school. The day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. Indeed it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
Al Shifa of Grade 9 welcomed the gathering. ThanishaMoolya of Grade 10 highlighted on the importance of the day. ReeshalFernandes of Grade 12 introduced the Chief Guest. Swasthika of Grade 11 proposed the vote of thanks. JyothsnaMenezes of Grade 10 compered the programme.
