72ND INDEPENDENCE DAY

“The spirit, Independence let me share! Lord of the lion-heart and eagle-eye, thy steps I follow with my bosom bare, nor heed the storm that howls along the sky.”
The sky looked bright after days of dark and cloudy weather, everywhere the atmosphere was filled with colours of courage, peace and life. The aura of the hall was breath taking. The tri-colour was hoisted by the proud alumna Mr.Joshua Rodrigues, Chief Officerin Merchant Navy. The national anthem was lead by the school choir joined by the audience. After the flag hoisting the Correspondent, Very Rev.Fr.Denis D’Sa, Chief Guest and the dignitaries were led by the School Band towards the hall.
The programme started with a prayer song sung melodiously by the school choir. The dignitaries and the audience were welcomed by Ethan Martin Almeida and Mrs Cynthia Periera. The Principal Rev.Fr.Mahesh D Souza introduced the Chief Guest Mr Joshua Rodrigues as an alumna of Don Bosco from L.KG and completed SSLC of the batch 2005. He was honoured by the Correspondent and the dignitaries on the stage. In his message he congratulated the Principal, Staff and Management Committee for achieving affiliation for CBSE. He spoke on the importance of Independence Day. The need for today’s Free India is love and devotion, alliance with fellow citizen. A true patriot works for change, shows respect to each other, speaks up for justice, law abiding citizen, don’t try to change theworld but change yourself. He concluded by quoting Mahatma Gandhi watch your thoughts they become words ………..watch your character it becomes your destiny.
The Correspondent congratulated the Principal and his team for the lovely celebration arranged. Hetold the students to take Mr Joshua as a role model and be inspired by him to join the forces. He paid tribute to the brave hearts who are guarding the borders at minus degree temperature. It is because of them we are breathing the air of freedom and sleeping peacefully. I salute the brave soldiers who have left their homes to keep us safe. The present day India is losing its tolerance, we have to respect every person, every religion, and every culture. He concluded his message by melodiously singing the well known poem of Rabindranath Tagore. Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high. Into that heaven of freedom my father let my country awake.
A colourful Cultural Programme followed. Various patriotic songs, dances and great freedom fighters were performed. Don Bosco Kannada medium participated through a patriotic dance during the cultural programme. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Panchami Tantri. The programme was well compered by Huzaifa Zakir and Allan D Souza. Shawn Wren Saldanha added flavour by providing music on his keyboard.
