“The environment is where we all meet, where all have a mutual interest, it is the one thing all of us share.
On the 16th of August 2018 Parisara Samrakshanna day and distribution of saplings with collaboration of District Administration Udupi, Lions Club District 317C, Diocese of Udupi, St.Mary’s & Don Bosco Educational Institutions was held at Don Bosco English Medium CBSE Affiliated School Hall.
The Bishop of Udupi Diocese Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald Issac Lobo, Lions Club Governor Tallur Shivaram Shetty, Correspondent Very Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa and the other dignitaries of various ranks were accorded a cordial welcome by the Band Troupe of Don Bosco. The dignitaries were then escorted by the Band to the hall . To invoke Almighty’s blessing a prayer song was sung by the students of Don Bosco English Medium School. The Correspondent Welcomed the dignitaries on and off the stage.
The Bishop along with the dignitaries planted a sapling; all the dignitaries put soil and watered it. The Bishop in his valuable message emphasised on 3 vital words. He said these words if put into action can help to conserve the environment.
The first –is preserve environment, it is everyone’s duty. Second –Protect environment gave example of Thimakka and Medha Pathar. Third –Promote environment for the future generation.
Lion’s Governor Tallur Shivaram Shetty emphasised to plant one sapling, even if you have a small space around your house. He gave the example of the recent deluge raging in Kerala as nature’s wrath against the destruction of environment. Later saplings were distributed to the selected representatives about a hundred students from each institution. After the distribution Lions Prakash Chandra a forest officer took the oath followed by the dignitaries and student representatives. Around 3000 saplings were brought to be distributed to the students. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Shirva Lions Club President Mr. Julian Rodrigues. The programme was very well compered by Mrs. Rajani, a lecturer of St. Mary’s P U College, Shirva. As a mark of respect to the nation the national anthem was led by the students of Don Bosco English Medium School.
