NATIONAL LIBRARIAN’S DAY

“Books are the windows through which the soul looks out”
August 12th is being celebrated as National Librarian’s Day in India, in remembrance of national Professor of library science, Dr S.R. Ranganathan, who had spearheaded library development in India. Due to the torrential rains and holidays National Librarian Day was celebrated on 21st August during the morning school assembly. The programme started with the daily prayers. The Principal, Vice Principal, Librarian, Heads of the section and leaders lit the lamp and inaugurated the Programme. Jovisha Menezes welcomed the teachers and students. Aaron DSouza of class VI A spoke on the importance of a Library. The teachers and students who donated books to the library were honoured with a rose. Risha Nazareth was appreciatedand honoured for maintaining discipline in the library. Mainuddin and Tanisha were honoured for taking and reading the highest number of library books. The Principal in his message appreciated the librarian Ms Vanitha for silently working and arranging the library systematically. It was a herculean task for her to sort and set the books for the new library. The school has around 6500 books and he thanked all those who donated books. Read books as they are the knowledge house.
Haily Cabral expressed words of gratitude and Carol Alva compered the progrrame.
