Deepavali

Deepavali – The festival of lights brought back the charm and appeal of the season. Don Bosco English Medium School celebrated Deepavali in all its grandeur on 30 October 2024.Decked in lanterns and diyas, the school quadrangle resonated the mirth of the festivities. The handmade decorations -vibrant in hues, set the mood to the festivities.
The celebration was a part of the school assembly. Shanel of grade 12 compered the programme. Fathima Nuza addressed a warm welcome note. The prayer set a serene ambience.
Shiny Mendonca of grade 8 in her speech, highlighted the importance of the festival of lights. The Principal, followed by all the teachers, lighted diyas to represent the victory of light over darkness – the spirit of deepavali. The chief attraction of the day, a dance narrative, enthralled the audience. The students of class 7 and 8 depicted the mythological story of Deepavali revolves around the character Lord Rama and his victory over Ravana. Rama, lakhsmana and Seetha were welcomed by the citizens of Ayodhya by lighting diyas to celebrate their triumphant return. Boys from grade 10 presented an engaging mime retelling the story of Narakasura, King Bali and the rituals associated with Deepavali celebration. The mime also conveyed a vital message of bursting crackers cautiously and making a wise decision of choosing green crackers.
The Principal, Rev Fr Rolwyn Joy Aranha addressed the students relating to the mythological story, characters and the joy of Deepavali celebration. Jia Alva proposed the vote of thanks drawing the final curtain to the programme.
