Karnataka Rajyotsava

Don Bosco English Medium School celebrated Karnataka Rajyotsava in full splendor on 1 November 2024. Karnataka proudly boasts a rich heritage, language, culture, and a mesmerizing landscape filled with scenic wonders. The celebration began with prayer. Swasthik of grade 10 compered the programme. Andrea Alva of grade 9 warmly welcomed the gathering. The Principal, Rev Fr Rolwyn Joy Aranha hoisted the Karnataka state flag. The state anthem was sung melodiously by the students. In the next phase of the programme, students presented cultural events that elevated the culture and values of Karnataka. Jessica of grade 9, in her speech shed light on the formation of Karnataka state and the personalities like Aluru Venkata Rao, who played key role in integrating Karnataka as a state. The genesis of Karnataka state was elaborated in detail retelling the historic episodes. Following this, the audience harboured in the spirit of the celebration through heartwarming rendition of songs. Students took turns honoring Goddess Bhuvaneshwari by lighting lamps, which paralleled the song ‘Hacchevu Kannada Da Deepa’ sung in the background”. The fervour and glory of ‘Karunadu’ was indeed intensified through the melodies. The exciting part of the celebration was the recreation of the historical episode of Onakey Obavva, an icon of Karnataka. Students of grade 6 presented the episode transporting the audience all the way back to history. Principal, Rev Fr Rolwyn Joy Aranha then addressed the students reflecting the spirit of Rajyotsava celebration, remembering the sacrifice and commitment of the leaders who strived for the formation of Karnataka state. The programme closed with the national anthem.
