Sand Art at Malpe Shore

“To practice any art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow.” As a part of study and also create an awareness among the students, Don Bosco English Medium School Shirva organised a Sand Art preparation at the sea shore of Malpe on Saturday, 16th October 2021.
The students of senior secondary section of the same school were passionate and apprehensive in participating such awareness programmes. Correspondent of the school Very Rev Fr Denis D’Sa, Principal Miss Myrtle L F Lewis, the co-ordinator of Senior Secondary section Rev Fr Rolwin Aranha, 13 staff members and 30 students of Senior Secondary Section partaken enthusiastically.
All the students gathered in the school premises at 7:15a.m. The school had left to Malpe beach once all arrived to the school premises. Sharp at 8:00a.m. the bus reached the place. Having finished the breakfast, students collected sand for the art carving. Every participant helped in one way or the other.
Mr Shivraj, the Art teacher of the school carved a beautiful sand art on ‘Save Girl Child’ with the help of participants. Achieving gender equality and empower all women and girls was the main theme of the sand art. The students gave a demonstration upon the same through a speech, where Master Anson Nazareth shared few of his thoughts on safety of girl child. The visitors received a strong message on safety of girl child through sand art.
Having finished the beautiful work of Sand Art at 11:30a.m. we went to St Annes Church Thottam for refreshment and then moved towards a beautiful Tree Park built in honour of ‘Saalu Marada Timmakka’ where the lunch has been served. Few games were being conducted and at 4:00p.m. all returned from the beautiful Tree Park. A day was well spent with lots of learning activities and awareness programme.
