Guru Vrinda 2020-2021 #2

“A teacher plants the seeds of knowledge that last for a life-time.” The Guru is the one who moulds, guides and directs the Shishya on the right path. A Guru always wishes that the shishya shines. The name GURU VRINDA itself explains the unity, bond and togetherness of the teachers in the school. The dream of Don Bosco English Medium School, Shirva, to bring all teachers together amidst their busy work, at least once a month, to be relaxed and to have some creative activities which would refresh and rejuvenate them has been fulfilled!
Education is the all-round development of the potential of the students. A teacher does the work of drawing out the latent talents of the students.
On 29th June 2020, the formal inauguration of the Teachers’ Club, Guru Vrinda, started with a prayer by the teachers. The Principal, Ms Myrtle L F Lewis, explained the importance of Teachers’ Club and its usefulness. She also said that on the day, one hour would be kept aside for the Staff Meeting. The Correspondent, Very Rev. Fr Denis D’Sa, who coined the beautiful name, ‘Guru Vrinda’, inaugurated the Club symbolically by unfurling the feathers of a painted peacock.
‘Unity in diversity’ keeps any group strong. Keeping this thought as the background, Mrs Roopa, the Chief Guest, spoke on the life of teachers in the school and the need of the Teachers’ Club in the school.
The President, Very Rev. Fr Denis D’Sa, elucidated the purpose of Teachers’ Club in the school. He said that by these activities, the teachers would get ample opportunities to showcase their talents, interact with one other in a friendly way and organize various activities which would strengthen the bond of teachers.
Mrs Veronica Dias, a senior member of the administrative staff, who rendered selfless service to the institution for 30years, was felicitated for her loving service. Fr Ashwin Aranha, Asst Parish Priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi, and Rev. Fr Rohan Dias, Asst. Parish Priest, Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva, were the Guests of Honour.
