Vanamahotsava Celebration 2020

“Green Earth, Clean Earth”
Vanamahotsava a week-longfestival of tree plantation, is organised every year in the firstweek of July across India whenmillions of trees are planted. This movement was initiated in the year 1950 bythethen Union Minister for Agriculture,Dr KM Munshi.
“Help to protect the rootsof our existence”. Amidst the pandemic of Covid-19, in the absence of the students in school, an earnest attempt to lend a green touch to the school environment, Don Bosco English Medium School, Shirva, celebrated Vanamahotsavaon 4th July 2020 in the school campus.
“Save trees and live a better and healthy life”. Principal Ms Myrtle L.F.Lewis along with the staffwelcomed the Correspondent of Don Bosco English Medium School, Very Rev Fr Denis DSa, for the plantation programme.
“Plant a tree, make the earth pollution free”. In his message, our Correspondent highlighted the need to care and protectourgreen planet in which we live. He also said that the present global crisis which we are facing is a part of thedegradation of mother earth. He also appreciated the initiative taken by the Principal and teachers to plan such a celebration during this critical period.
“Nurture nature for a better future”. A neem plant was planted by the Correspondent in the school premises. Many saplings of medicinal plants like neem, aloe vera, basil; fruits plants like mango, guava, jackfruit, seal fruit, starfruit, etc were distributed to the teaching and non-teaching staff who were present. The program ended with thevote of thanks. In continuation of Vanamahotsava celebration, the school conducted different activities for the students.
