Independence Day Celebration

“Thousands laid down their lives, so that our country can celebrate this day”. Thesewords inspire us towards patriotism. Today the entire nation India celebrates the 74th Independence day. In the absence of students, Don Bosco English Medium School, Shirva organised a modest celebration intheschool premises. The celebration began at 8:30am with a small program conducted by school teachers.
“Love is not losing freedom, it is sharing freedomwith another”.On the occasion of Independence Day Celebration, our beloved Principal Miss Myrtle Lewis welcomed the gathering. Rev. Fr Rohan Michael Dias unfurled the national flag. The flag song was sung by the Staff Choir group. Miss Josvita Dsouza spoke on the significance of Independence Day. Scouts and Guides whoreceived Rajyapuraskara were felicitated. Very Rev Fr Denis D’Sa the Correspondent gave away the awards to the achievers. In his Presidential address the Correspondent highlightedthe importance of the day and requested all to safe guard the country’s freedom by abiding the constitution. He stressed upon the 3 Ts, to live with Truth, Trustand Tolerancewhich is very important in today’s scenario. He called upon to go byreasoningrather than working on emotions.He concluded his Presidential speech by quoting thepoem composed by the poet Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, “Wherethe mind is without fear and the headis held high……Into that heaven offreedom let my country awake………”
Mrs. Philomena Barboza proposed vote of thanks. The scouts and guides who received Rajya Puraskara Award were present and were being felicitated at this occasion. Mr Sujith Shetty beautifully compeeredthe program.The school staff and non-teaching staff co-operated towards the success of the celebration.
