KG Orientation Program

An Orientation Program was organizedfor the parents of Kindergarten students at Don Bosco Eng. Med. School, Shirva on 27-08-2020.

Inaugurating the program the correspondent Rev. Fr Denis D’Sa said that the COVID-19 situation has pushed us to adopt new methods and strategies in imparting knowledge to the students in the educational institutions. No doubt classroom teaching and teacher-student interaction are the best methods of learning but in the present-day crisis the teachers have no other option than to go for the virtual or online teaching. Hence this orientation program for the parents so that they can help their wards to adapt themselves to the online learning. Of course the teachers will have to keep in mind the age of the student, the practical problems of the parents/technology etc.

Mrs. Shyona Dalmeida, the K.G coordinator made a visual presentation on the curriculumfor the year 2020-21, the methodology of teaching and the new strategies of learning. Mrs ShruthiPrasad conducted a session on as to how to learn the English language. Mrs Nidhi Hegde told the parents as to how the students will be introduced to Mathematics so as to develop an analytical mind.Mrs Leena spoke on story telling and Mrs Reshma, on various child centered activities, which would helpthe child to learn the subjectsas well as the values of life.

This was followed by a question-answer session. The parents clarified their doubts about the efficacy of onlinelearning, practical problems faced by the parents, challenges to pay the fees, discipline during online learning session etc. The Correspondent and the Principal clarified the doubts of the parents.

In her concluding remarks the Principal Ms Myrtle L.F.Lewis appreciated the teachers for their commitment to adapt to the new digital teaching. She also appreciated the parentsfor their presence and active participation. She concluded with a positive note saying let’s all work together for the well-being of ‘our’ child and tide over the crisis posed by the pandemic.
