Inaugural Ceremony of NCC NAVAL Unit

“Unity and discipline can make students better citizens of Tomorrow”
It was a red letter day in the history of Don Bosco English Medium School,Shirva as it witnessed the inauguration of 76 JD SUB TROOP affiliated to 6 KAR NAVAL UNIT NCC, UDUPI. The impressive inaugural ceremony was presided over by Very Rev Fr Denis D’Sa, Correspondent of St. Mary’s and Don Bosco Institutions, Shirva. Chief Guest Commodore Nanda Kishor, Commanding Officer, 6 KAR NAVAL UNIT NCC, UDUPI, Mr J Prakash, Chief Instructor, MrGangadharSavalagi, Training Instructor and MrPradeep Kumar, Second Division Assistant Officer of 6 KAR NAVAL UNIT NCC, UDUPI, Principal, Ms Myrtle L F Lewis and the members of School Management Committee were present for the inaugural function.
The inaugural ceremony began by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song. MrsGayathri welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest. The NCC Naval Wing was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest Commodore Nanda Kishor by letting the pigeons free. Master RolwynMenezesof Grade 10 administeredthe pledge to the NCC cadets. MsSweedal of Grade 10 spoke on the benefits of NCC.
The Chief Guest in his Inaugural address called upon the students to imbibe the noble values of discipline and unity in their lives and contribute towards nation building. He also lauded the efforts of Don Bosco English Medium School in opening the NCC Wing and providing the students with an opportunity to join the same. The Correspondent in his Presidential address apprised the cadets to avail the opportunities to develop the values of discipline, unity, hard work and leadership. By narrating a story he called upon students to follow the cardinal principles such as obey with smile, be punctual, work hard without fuss, not to make excuses and be truthful. Principal Ms Myrtle L F Lewis honoured the Chief Guest and the guests of honour with the mementos. Ms Natasha Fernandes of Grade 10 proposed the vote of thanks and MsShannel Correa systematically compeered the programme. 50 students of Don Bosco English Medium School, Shirva, were inducted as cadets who would be molded to become responsible citizens of the nation, going by the motto of discipline and unity. The programme was ended by singing National Anthem.
