Library Day Celebration

Library is an information resource center which allows the students to read books. Libraries play a vital role in the development of a student, teacher as well as the school. S.R Ranganathan who is known as ‘Father of Library Science in India was the first person who identified the real need of libraries and library science education in our country. India celebrates August 12th as Librarians Day in his honor.
In the school this day was celebrated on 22nd of August with the lighting of the lamp ,a symbol of knowledge by the Principal Fr. Mahesh Dsouza, Vice Principal Mrs. Irine Cardoza, Head teachers Mrs. Irine Rodrigues, Mrs. Philomena Barboza, Librarian Ms.Akshitha, Library minister Avin Mendonca .This was followed by floral tribute offered to the portrait of Mr. S.R Ranganathan.
On this occasion the donors who donated books to the library were recognized and honored. The students who borrowed highest no.of books from the library and the students who maintained good discipline in the school Library in the academic year 2018-2019 were highlighted and given prizes.
Principal Fr. Mahesh Dsouza called upon the students to make the best use of the library. For it is an information resource center which allows the students to read books and he also said What a school thinks about its library is a measure of what it feels about education.
Shifa of class 5thA ,gave an insight on the importance of the library. Sannidhi Shetty grade 6thA proposed the vote of thanks. Jovisha Menezes of class 9thB compered the programme.
